Application process
Thank you for your interest in volunteering with the Volunteer Support Network. We recommend that you apply at least 3-4 months before your preferred start date, in order to avoid disappointment, and also to get all the necessary vaccinations in time!
1. Read - We want you to get the most out of your volunteering experience and ensure it is the right fit for you. Please read all about the programme, our partners, how we work, and FAQs before applying.
2. Apply - Then, email us at volunteeruganda@ymail.com or info@volunteersupportnetwork.org to receive an application form. We will use this form to:
- Match your skills, interests, experience and objectives to our partner organisations’ needs
- Assess your suitability for the programme, as well as your readiness to live and work in a developing country
We will then follow up on your references and may ask you for further information.
3. Offer - You will be notified within one to two weeks as to whether your application is successful. If it is, you will be offered a placement and an outline of your job description. Specific daily schedules and activities will be determined between volunteers and their coordinator upon arrival.
4. Accept - Once you have read through the outline offer and we have answered any questions or concerns that you might have, you will need to pay a $300 deposit to secure your place. The balance is due 8 weeks before your arrival. Payments are made by electronic transfer.
5. Support - Once your placement is confirmed, you will receive the volunteer handbook, giving more details and information to help you prepare for your trip. We will continue to support you throughout.
